The history of our made in Italy

am Valeria and I created the Adalù brand. Ada and Lu ‘, Luciana, were my grandmothers, the makers, in the most literal sense of the term, of the transmission

in time of memories, notions and records, from their time to my time.
I strongly believe in the value that traditions have in everything we do.
As an Italian surfer I felt the need to put a pinch of Made in Italy also in the women’s surfwear industry, because I felt the lack of being accompanied by my traditions also on my favorite time of the day, when I’m into the water. I would have loved to wear

a made in Italy surf suit designed just for surfers girls with the best italian fabrics. This is how Adalù® was born, a brand dedicated to adventurous and contemporary women but also nostalgic and romantic, looking to the future with the teachings of the past, for very aware and sensual women, perfectly embodying the feminine Italian tradition’s icon.

Today Adalù® is also known abroad, where the quality of Made in Italy is always much appreciated and recognized, especially when it comes to surf suits or bikini, which require greater attention to the design and, why not, to the addition of the Italian taste, which reminds us to the famous times of the Bella Vita.
All this was possible only thanks to Tradition.

put all this into my design, combining it with my curiosity and my passion for research, which have led me to experience something new every year. I find it very important to change often and get to know the most particular and innovative fabrics. For some years I have been entrusted to one of the most advanced Italian companies in the sector, which has chosen to install a research laboratory in its main office with the aim of increasing their company in the field of sustainable businesses. In the latest collections I have made more and more use of technical fabrics light and soft to the touch with a modeling effect, which enhance the silhouette without forcing; ensuring excellent coverage and a perfect fit leaving the body free to move in comfort; quick drying and dressing like a second skin, with the main purpose of making the Adalù® designs pleasant to wear.

Adalù® is a brand that cares a lot about eco-sustainability, we live the sea every day and unfortunately we see the ruin caused by years and years of an inconsiderate use of plastic. So what does Adalù® do for the environment? We consider ourselves an eco-sustainable company, starting first of all a company from the staff’s selection, we privilege people with conscious and careful lifestyle, which allows to understand and adopt without much efforts the company sustainability’s guide lines, such as ban plastic wherever possible and ensure its reuse where it is not possible not to use it at all. More precisely, our company, since the very first day of activity, has moved according to a lifestyle with a low impact on the environment, selecting furnitures in our territory of origin to contain exhaust emissions and containing fabrics waste reusing them to create something new. We believe also is important to create a peaceful working environment, without frenzy, sharing clean spaces and ideas. These choices have not involved great sacrifices and yet they make a huge difference to our small ecosystem, which is why they are absolutely necessary. Moreover, it is a fact that small companies like ours have the necessity to reduce waste of money and therefore cause less pollution, even more the handicraft ones that favor manual work, without the use of machinery that require abundant waste of energy. For this reason, buying a handmade product, most of the times, already have an eco-sustainable choice within. Finally, this year we were proud to introduce new products conceived and then produced with lycra made of ECONYL® regenerated nylon yarn, a yarn derived from nylon waste coming from recycled material such as fishing nets harvested from the ocean to be brought back to life, but also fabric scraps recovered from landfills to be reused in the form of a new quality yarn to produce an ecologic lycra suitable for the fashion industry and beyond. In this case the sacrifice in economic terms was real and that is why we need a gradual step to arrive here, and we hope it will become definitive. So the next step will lead to the only use of new fabrics made with ECONYL® yarn.

In conclusion, what does it mean to support Made in Italy? It means corroborating our teachings and sustaining the love we received from the past and we want to give to the future. I think that’s why my costumers smile touching and wearing an Adalù® product, holding their breath for a second of amazement. This is what only love can do.
